Hi. I am Jacquelyn Schwartz, MA, LMFT. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a private practice in San Diego. I specialize in helping individuals and couples find real solutions to their relationship problems. My goal is to to help you develop a deeper, more satisfying connection with yourself and the people in your life that matter most.
I have worked as a psychotherapist in a variety of settings including the
Center for Grief Care and Education/ San Diego Hospice Institute for
Palliative Medicine, Douglas Young Bio-Psycho Social Rehabilitation Center,
Rady Children's Hospital Outpatient Psychiatry, and Palomar Family
Counseling Services. In each of these settings I developed a greater
understanding about what truly helps people feel and function better in
their lives.
In my years of experience, I have discovered that Bowen Family Systems and
Mindfulness-based approaches to healing have proven to be the most useful
and effective over the long term. Bowen theory provides a framework for
developing greater intimacy in relationships. While having a strong
mindfulness practice helps people to be calm, caring, and compassionate with
self and others.
I believe that everyone can learn and benefit from having their own
mindfulness practice. That is why, in addition to being a therapist, I
teach the 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course.
My personal mission is to help create a more mindful and compassionate world
through the practice of Vipassana (mindfulness) meditation, relationship
coaching, and teaching. My involvement in the San Diego community reflects
these values. I have served on the board of the SAN DIEGO CENTER FOR JEWISH
CULTURE Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center, JACOBS FAMILY CAMPUS and
the formative board of directors at the UC San Diego Mindfulness-Based
Professional Training Institute, and have facilitated the Buddhist Psychology Study Group as a volunteer with Insight SD.
To speak with me directly, please call (858) 356-5839. I look forward to
hearing from you.
